dave, has jehovah's witnesses society proved itself by what it teaches, to love man and god and wife and child and to act for the betterment of all?

which one of these ways mentioned does the society use?

Love one another and TAKE CARE OF ONE ANOTHER - oh yes that is why you are supposed to let your child die because of refusing a blood transfusion that someone else has freely donated???? But of course if you are still buying into the "promise" of "just around the corner" resurrection and everlasting life, then all these people dying unnecessarily won't be a problem to you. Don't worry that it will screw you up in the meantime.

(FAQ WT site) Do you shun former members?

here's some thing right from the official jw site under fequently asked questions.. do you shun former members?.

those who simply cease to be involved in the faith are not shunned.

in compliance with the scriptures, however, members can be expelled for serious unchristian conduct, such as stealing, drunkenness, or adultery, if they do not repent and cease such actions.

What EXACTLY do they mean by FORMER MEMBER and NON-INVOLVED MEMBER?

NON-INVOLVED MEMBER - the person is in-active, but the cong still hold record cards and the person is counted in numbers?

FORMER MEMBER - If someone just stopped attending everything, after a certain length of time (??) the cong would destroy record cards and the person would no longer count in the numbers?

The titles would need defining before anyone could say the WT are liars. (By the way I do believe they ARE liars) Otherwise the WT will just ALTER the definition to save face.

When i was an active member - I would shun FORMER MEMBERS, that is DA or DF. Those were were NON-INVOLVED (ie irregular at meetings) were not good associates, but there was nothing to stop you associating with them.

Should I Do It ??? I Think I Will.

i have been working on my letter to our local congregation to dis-associate myself.. since my wife is still very active in the non-truth and she also insist that i write this letter, i believe i will take her congregation address and telephone list and send my letter with all the facts about the wbts history of lies and send everyone in the congregation my letter via certified mail.

it would probally set me back a few hundred bucks but i think it would be well worth it, what do you think??

I agree with Mulan - why make life easy for them??

I had openly made my hatred of meetings/ministry/Society known to my book study elder over the course of 3 years, but he seemed to think it was just talk and that i would never do anything about. In fact he always responded in a jovial fashion! WELL HE KNOWS NOW I WASN'T KIDDING!!

I suddenly left the org in Oct 00. I made the decision whilst sitting at a circuit assembly, listening to all the ***** that comes off the platform.

In April 01, a message came to me via my husband that the elders would like to see me because they wanted to know what I believed in.

I decided that if they wanted to see me they would have to ask me directly, and not via a go between.

I also decided that I am happy with my life, and the way I am living it (including celebrating birthdays/Christmas/Easter etc etc), and if the elders have a problem with it, IT IS THEIR PROBLEM!!

I have also found that it embarasses my in-laws beautifully. They don't know how to handle me. I am SO NICE to them when I see them. I ALWAYS enquire after their health (they never ask about mine!!) I try very hard not to give them ANY REASON to not talk to me. I love to see them squirm.

I don't know how long I will be able to keep this up, but it is working well at the moment!!

I have thought about writing a letter, and posting it to all and sundry with accompanying DID YOU KNOW facts.

But then, that means we are still playing by THEIR rules. If we don't want to play their game, we just stop.

I am just trying to make it harder for the elders to figure out what do with me. If I send in a DA letter, i have saved them a whole heap of mental work.

But you have to do what feels right to YOU. If YOU would feel happier writing the letter, then go for it. Then you can start your life properly as a non JW.

Whatever you decide - WELL DONE FOR LEAVING IT IN THE FIRST PLACE.

it seems like to me the majority of people who are in the truth, are were in the truth was a result of either a family member are a friend witnessing to them and not many seem to have been found in the door to door work.. from my years of associating with the borg i cannot recall many coming in the truth from the door to door work.. how were you sucked in?

for me it was my aunt who has now even though i am not disfellowshipped decided to write me out of her will to the tune of about $150,000.00 (maybe i should hang around a couple more years)dont think i will.. please respond .

My mum was contacted in door to door work by an elderly lady, i was about 3 years old.

Mum was baptized first, then dad (he held out a bit I think).

We carried on the usual JW course, dad became MS then Elder. I became best friends with the elderly lady's grand-daughter. Married a JW. My best friend was then DF, and we were not allowed to talk to her.

Then, 3 years ago, my daughter was born with severe health problems. The blood issue started the everyone's "thinking wheels" turning.

My mum and dad "drifted" away, along with my youngest brother. My other brother "drifted" away with his wife (whose mother was JW, but herself not baptised). Then I "drifted" away. My husband is now (I hope/I think) beginning to drift away to.

We are now making plans to celebrate my daughters third birthday!! And I can't wait for Christmas (sad to think I am wishing the summer away!!).

My husband used to play the classical guitar when he was at school. We were in the same congregation, and i remember he used to play really well. In fact he was so good his music teachers wanted him to join the school orchestra group and take it up professionally.

But no, when he was in his teens, it was decided (encouraged by parents) that it took up too much of his free time, he wasn't spending enough time on the usual stuff (you know, ministry, bible reading, etc), so he stopped practicing. He became a car mechanic (dead end job - following in his elder brothers footsteps) and tried to do all the things expected of him at the kingdom hall.

He has since left the motor trade and has settled into mental health nursing (something which could look suspiciously like a CAREER!!, perish the thought), and is enjoying the CHALLENGES that his profession now brings.

He still occasionally dusts off his classical guitar, but unfortunately the WTB&T society (and his parents) have succeeded in closing that avenue for him.

Sorry to hear about the terrible problems you are having to cope with at the moment.

I work in Mental Health Services in the UK, so I don't know whether my advice would be any good to you living in the USA. But here goes:

You need financial support to bring up your 2 grandchildren. Could you be their official "fosterparent"? In the UK the social services dept will try to place children with family before attempting resettlement with strangers. I would imagine you would be their first choice. If this is the case, there would also be financial support attached to this (Child Benefit/Income support).

Is your daughter involved with the mental health services in the USA? They may be able to provide support for your daughter to go through a detox program - this may require inpatient treatment, following by long-term high level support in the community on discharge from hospital.

Does your daughter have an allocated social worker? This is the person who is best placed to deal with accommodation/financial and child care issues. If she doesn't yet have a social worker, then it might be worth your while jumping up and down and shouting a bit at the health services until you get one (if you shout loud enough they WILL hear).

As I said, don't know whether this will help.

I am so pleased to hear that Justin's Mum is slowly recovering.

Life is like a roller coaster in hospital isn't it? Some days things are going well so you feel sort of ok, then something else changes and you go down again. I understand completely what that does to you.

Good to know that Mum will be back home on Sunday.

My first time "storming" out!!

i "stormed" out of a meeting for the first time in my life tonight.

well, i really just walked really fast, but inside myself i was storming.

anybody catch some of the insolent comments made in the 6/01km?

I worked with a Medical/Nuclear Physicist a few years ago, who offered me a place on a degree course. i was tempted, but felt that i would not be able to cope with studying for a degree course and study for meetings, ministry, etc etc. At the time i was also missing many KH meetings because of meetings with merchant bankers/hospital managers etc etc - and of course this was frowned on.

I declined his offer, and eventually left my job with the thought of regular pioneering.

A fews year down the line and i now regret that decision - I never did regular pioneer (one month auxilary was enough).

I have now left the JWs, due to other reasons, and am now back in full time employment, with a chance to obtain some qualifications in a specialised field of Health Service. i am loving every minute of it!!

Using Our Kingdom Halls Wisely.

Yes i can beat yours hands down!!

My local kingdom hall was bought on a purchase order by Southern Water, and then BULLDOZED!!!

On the site now are water storage tanks.

The congregation have been moved and are sharing another kingdom hall and have been for 3 years.

Their new kingdom hall is still waiting to be built elsewhere because the congregation are waiting for the Quickbuild Department (?? -sorry I have forgotten the name) at Bethel to pull their finger out.

(Aside thought: are the Quickbuild team going to take this long after armageddon to build one single square hall? God help them all those waiting for housing).
